Chick-fil-A Chain’s 40th Anniversary

Even after 40 years since the first Chick-fil-A location at Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta, business success never gets old for the family of Chick-fil-A restaurants. The Atlanta-based chain announced year-end 2007 system-wide sales of $2,640,861,130, a 16.09 percent increase over the chain’s 2006 performance and a same-store sales increase of 8.47 percent.

Currently the nation’s second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain (based on sales), Chick-fil-A enjoyed a streak that has been sustained since the company opened in 1967.

Chick-fil-A is making significant menu improvements this year. In fact, 2008 is forecasted to be the chain’s most aggressive product rollout period in Chick-fil-A history.

In addition, Chick-fil-A anticipates new store growth to be a major factor in helping sustain its sales momentum. Chick-fil-A is planning to add 88 locations this year, including 70 stand-alone restaurants, five mall/in-line locations and 13 licensed operations.

4th & Swift Brings New Flavors to Old Fourth Ward

Veteran Atlanta chef, Jay Swift – formerly of Rainwater and South City Kitchen – brings his passion and creative interpretation of seasonal comfort food to 4th & Swift.

Occupying the space that was formerly the engine room to Southern Dairies, the restaurant will retain many of the original elements. Exposed brick, concrete and beams will be updated with contemporary accents.

4th & Swift is scheduled to open late April or early May 2008.   

The menu will be defined by stations of the kitchen Рpresenting both small and large plates in categories such as Wood, Grill and Smoke, Saut̩ and Braise, Pantry and Bake Shop. The kitchen will source products from sustainable and local farmers.

Swift is collaborating with Atlanta pastry chef, Kathryn King of Aria, to create “Bake Shop” selections. 

4th & Swift is located at 621 North Avenue in the historic Old Fourth Ward.

HoneyBaked Lends a “Helping Ham”

The HoneyBaked Ham Company renewed its partnership with the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless organization for its annual MLK dinner at Turner Field.  On January 21, HoneyBaked associates joined other volunteers in serving HoneyBaked Ham and Turkey to thousands at the event honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.  HoneyBaked Ham has more than 25 retail operations around the metro Atlanta area.  The company donated more than 4,500 pounds of turkey and 7,000 pounds of ham for the event. 

“We strive to be active members of our communities.  After the holiday season, important charitable organizations are often temporarily forgotten.  However, hunger is an issue that is unfortunately faced by many year round. Giving back is not seasonal,” said Ken Caldwell, Vice President of Operations and Franchise for HoneyBaked Ham. 

The HoneyBaked Ham Company was founded by Harry J. Hoenselaar in 1957 and has more than 400 stores across the nation.

Church’s Chicken and Coca-Cola Sign Beverage Agreement

Church’s Chicken announced a multi-year renewal of its existing beverage contract with The Coca-Cola Company. The Coca-Cola Company has been the preferred beverage partner for Church’s Chicken since 1952, the quick-service chicken brand’s founding year.
