Les Dames D’Escoffier International–Atlanta Chapter Names 2017 Class

Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI)’s Atlanta Chapter recently announced its 2017 membership class, and Restaurant Informer’s Editor, Christy Simo, was selected as one of just nine women invited to join the group this year.

LDEI is a by-invitation philanthropic organization that provides education, networking opportunities and scholarships to encourage the success of more women in the culinary world.

LDEI International was founded in New York in 1976 by Carol Brock, a food reporter for the New York Daily News, at a time when there were few prominent women chefs or sommeliers and not a lot of opportunities for women in the culinary arts in general. Today it is a worldwide society dedicated to promoting achievement of women in culinary professions through educational and charitable activities. More than 2,200 women are part of 38 LDEI chapters around the world.

The Atlanta chapter, which was formed in 1996, is one of the country’s strongest and most active groups. It provides thousands of dollars of funding and numerous volunteer hours to local organizations each year. Its membership of more than 125 women includes professional chefs, restauranteurs, caterers, farmers, cookbook authors, food journalists, winemakers and culinary educators, to name just a few.

The 9 women joining LDEI’s Atlanta Chapter in 2017 are:

Lelia Bryan, co-owner, Vino Venue & Atlanta Wine School
