Owner and operator Ryan Pernice and executive chef Ted Lahey of Roswell’s Table & Main recently announced their latest addition to the historic community’s restaurant scene, Osteria Mattone. Set to open in summer 2013, Osteria Mattone will offer comfortable, rustic Italian cuisine prepared by chef Lahey.
Located on Roswell’s popular Canton Street, the restaurant will reflect a rustic neighborhood trattoria offering fresh, locally sourced ingredients from nearby Georgia farms, artisan bakers and purveyors. Menu highlights include handmade pastas and wood-fired pizzas baked in a hand-crafted brick pizza oven, a focal point of the dining room’s interior design. The wine list will be a major focus of the beverage program, showcasing a wide range of Italian wines as well as other continental varietals.
Osteria Mattone will incorporate a landscaped terrace and dining patio on the front lawn. A large private lot for guest parking will be available.
Raised in Roswell, Pernice most recently helped open Maialino, a Roman-style trattoria in New York City’s Gramercy Park neighborhood from restaurateur Danny Meyer of Union Square Hospitality Group. A graduate of Johnson and Wales University’s culinary arts program, Lahey refined his techniques and palate under acclaimed chefs including Michael White of Fiamma Osteria in New York City, N.Y. and Hugh Acheson of Five & Ten in Athens, Ga.
