Congratulations to the Georgia-based winners of this year’s James Beard Awards!
Each year since 1990, the James Beard Foundation bestows its awards, known as the “Oscars of the food world,” to culinary professionals including chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors and food journalists, and restaurants designers and architects.
This year, Steven Satterfield of Miller Union in Atlanta won Best Chef: Southeast. It was the first time someone from Georgia won the award since 2012, when Hugh Acheson and Linton Hopkins shared the recognition. It was Satterfield’s fifth consecutive nomination for the award.
Two other James Beard Awards went to Georgia-based people this year: Meyer Davis Studio was recognized with the Outstanding Restaurant Design: 76 Seats and Over for their design of Ford Fry’s Buckhead restaurant St. Cecilia, and Atlanta-based food writer Bill Addison, Eater’s roaming national food critic, was recognized with a Dining and Travel Media Award for his “I Want Crab. Pure Maryland Crab.” article on Eater. Congratulations to you all!
