Giving Kitchen’s Dining with Gratitude Returns for 2nd Year
Dining with Gratitude (DWG) returns for a second year this August and restaurants will donate 10 percent of their proceeds Aug. 26-29 to Giving Kitchen (GK) to support restaurant workers facing a crisis.
The nonprofit provides emergency assistance to restaurant workers through financial support and a network of local resources, cultivating a restaurant community where crisis is met with compassion and care. Since it started in 2013, GK has given more than $1.9 million in crisis grants to more than 1,100 restaurant workers throughout 47 Georgia counties.
More than 120 restaurants have committed to participating this year – more than twice as many that participated in its inaugural year – including some in Athens and Rome. Last year’s event raised more than $74,000.
DWG presenting sponsor Springer Mountain Chicken will donate $2 for every entrée that uses its chicken during the campaign, and Richland Rum is donating $0.65 for every Richland Rum drink served at participating restaurants during the entire month of August.
The DWG event is also a great opportunity to educate your staff and diners alike about the services GK offers to restaurant workers in crisis. In fact, the nonprofit has seen a direct correlation in grant application or referrals from restaurants that participate.
Can’t take part in the event? There are other ways to support the cause! Encourage friends and family to dine out, order take-out for a staff meeting or picnic, or celebrate a birthday, anniversary, promotion or other special occasion at one of the participating restaurants.
