HomeGrown Restaurant Concepts recently presented both Fire Station 19 and Fire Station 10 with two checks, totaling $5,500 and $4,000 respectively, to help restore the current condition of the fire houses. HomeGrown Restaurant Concepts’ annual Breakfast with Santa fundraiser sold out another year in a row at Osteria 832 on Saturday, December 6, and Doc Chey’s on Saturday, December 13. The proceeds from these events helped bring the 12-year fundraising total to more than $100,000.
The annual event featured a sit-down breakfast including pancakes, eggs and chicken sausage and a visit from Santa Claus, who arrived on top of a fire truck. Tickets were $25 per person, and all proceeds from the ticket sales were donated directly to the fire stations.
This year, HomeGrown Restaurant Concepts founder Rich Chey received the 2014 Citizen Award of Honor for more than 17 years of exemplary service and support to Atlanta Fire Rescue in the community. Over the years, the restaurant group has been recognized for its fundraising efforts through events such as Breakfast with Santa and Morningside Mile. The group was a state winner of the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Neighbor Award the Georgia Restaurant Association’s Distinguished Service Award at the 2011 GRACE Awards.
Doc Chey’s will continue to support the fire community during the annual Morningside Mile race and block party taking place on Sunday, March 29, from noon to 2 p.m. For registration and more information please visit the website.
